Aloha to all. I've been very fortunate to be on sabbatical from church ministry last two weeks and looking forward to next 4 weeks of sabbatical. It's been nice visiting churches on Sunday. I've been taking notes and observing how they do things. How important in your experience is being greeted "sufficiently"? In your answer please define "sufficently" from your perspective. Also does the greeting have an impact on whether you will stay in the church. So far I've visited two large churches and one moderate sized one. I've found that the larger churches do a poorer job of greeting new comers. Probably because they have no idea who the new comer is. The moderate church did a much better job of greeting. The two large churches I visited I was greeted once or twice by the "professional" door greeters. At the moderate sized church I was greeted about 6 times by 6 different people and even the Pastor. What do you think? I know there are many factors on why people stay in a church and greeting is just one of those factors.
On Sunday night G and I went to the Pound(very interesting place) in SF to experience a battle of the bands. It's been a long time since I attended a battle of the bands. In fact the last time I attended a battle of the bands I was actually in it. Yeah I was in a band and we thought we were cool
We were called the Mystics but my dad called us the mistakes. And we had all the right moves to the Motown beat. My favorite two favorite songs were - My Girl by the Temptations and Shotgun by Jimmy Walker and the All stars.
Well, battle of the bands have certainly changed, a lot more energy. It was thrilling to see the young man in our church perform with his band. It brought back old memories when this old dude was once in a band. Any how we were so proud to see young man and his band tie for first place. In my opinion they should have been #1. They just sounded so much better than the rest.
Blessings,
